We also changed crew. Matt, with me since Seattle, flies out tomorrow. Chuck flew in on Monday. His luggage didn't accompany him, but did a day later thankfully.
It has been such a pleasure cruising with Matt. He's super efficient and very easy to get along with. I couldn't have asked for better crew. Thank you Matt for all your help.
We got a 5am start this morning… to time our exit with the ebbing tide. It boosted our speed by a couple of knots for the first couple of hours. Nice!
It's a lovely glassy water morning, clear and cool. The sun is reflecting brightly off the water making it hard to look to port. There's a little fog ahead, tendrils winding among the islets, slowly dissipating as we approach.
Our anchorage, for those keeping track, will be the Spice Islands complex tonight. Larson Harbour tomorrow night, then across Hecate Strait to Sandspit marina on Friday. So far the weather looks to be favorable (ish). It's likely to shift a bit over the next couple of days, but I don't see any reason yet to delay accelerate our planning.
Opus will be continuing north, crossing the border into Alaska. They'll go as far north as Juneau, perhaps Glacier Bay. We enjoyed cruising with them. It made the last few weeks very social. The safety net was nice to have too. We wish them well.
