Last Night

Tonight is our last night on Haida Gwaii. The winds tomorrow are expected to turn light, which is great for making a comfortable passage, but less than ideal for economy. Computer models expect winds to be about 10kt. We'll need more than 10kt if we hope to run without the engine, but we'll see how it unfolds

We enjoyed some light air sailing on each of the last two days. It was weird yesterday. We were just about ready to turn into Skincuttle inlet when out of nowhere we were set upon by three boats. As soon as we were clear of the point and turning into the inlet, the wind freshened and all four boats were off to the races. One, a catamaran that was faster, headed over to Ikeda inlet, where we are tonight. The other two ended up in Bag Hbr with us last night.

It's cool that each cove we visited had a population of woodpeckers. It was pleasant sitting in the cockpit in the fading light, doing crossword puzzles and listening to woodpeckers echo across the lake.

Brownies!
Whales!
Leftovers!
4am start!
