We motor sailed the first half of the day. We had a 12 kt wind off the port quarter that gusted 14-18kts. I took the first watch. Each watch was for two hours. Skies were gray and fog was threatening, but it was dry and visibility was good. We just had the jib out. It helped to stabilize the boat in a mix of chop and swell. The wave heights weren't bad.
I had on long sleeve cotton, a long sleeve synthetic sweatshirt, a Primaloft jacket, and a Gortex shell. I was just warm enough. I also dug out an electric hand warmer because my hands get cold.
The wind only lasted for about half the day and soon we were motoring through glassy water to a very small cove with barely enough room for one boat. Thankfully the cove is all ours.
We arrived late and it was after nine by the time we were finished with dinner, the last of our leftovers, a curious mixture of mushroom risotto and taco meat. But it was nice to get those eaten and e we didn't really have time for anything more elaborate.
