Codeville to Shearwater via Gunboat

Quijote and Opus are docked in Shearwater for two nights. After Fury Cove we spent a soggy night in the ever popular Codeville Lagoon, a quiet anchorage on the north end of Fitz Hugh Sound. We entered the cove and anchored in a driving rain that left everything we had on soaked. I have hooks in the engine room for just such a day. The engine room is warm and dried our clothing off quickly. I also fired up the diesel furnace to warm and dry the rest of the boat.

Yesterday was a short day from Codeville to Shearwater through a lovely little circuitous channel called Gunboat Passage. It would be interesting to know the origin of the name.

Shearwater offered up showers, laundry, WiFi and dinner in a restaurant last night. Unfortunately we discovered a half hour late that the restraunt menu turns into a pub menu at 7 pm. So it was chicken wings for dinner.

The WiFi gave me the opportunity to upload a few photos to the blog. The attempts to do a little walking or hiking though were turned back by the periodic rain that swept through. The trails are a muddy mess.

It's interesting that masking has mostly disappeared in Campbell River, but in Shearwater it lives on. Local decisions.

We'll re-provision today, take another shower (2 min per loonie) and try again to get a walk in.
