While they were gone today, I got a start on dinner. I cooked a pot of rice for Mexican chicken stew. The recipe calls for one cup. It's hard to make one cup of cooked rice. So I made more and the rest will go to waste or will find a way to use it. The recipe also calls for 3 cups of shredded cooked chicken. So I cleaned the pot and cooked the chicken. I don't know if I'll make this recipe again. It seems like there are a lot of steps. The verdict is still out.
Tomorrow we'll transit the Chatham Narrows, a long narrow passage that's 20 or 30 feet deep and has current that runs around 6 kts, so we'll want to hit it at slack. Slack comes at 10:30 or 10: 50, depending on your source. The Narrows are about 7 miles away, so an hour and a half or two to get there. That translates to a departure time of around 8:30 AM. I like a nice leisurely start. I like an early start too, but we just had one.
Next on my to do list was to check the engine, top off the oil. That's done.
And check the weather. Tonight the radio forecast and the computer generated forecast are in agreement: winds will be light tomorrow.
The verdict is in on the Mexican chicken stew: underwhelming.
After dinner we played four hand cribbage on Opus. Good fun!
And that's the day in a nutshell.
