A Glorious Start

The wind has been blowing us north since casting off this morning, an auspicious start. We needed the day to be dry after the soaking we were subjected to yesterday. Trying to decide when to move the boat from Lake Union to Shilshole yesterday, we hemmed and hawed, wanting the rain to let up. With no encouragement to be found in the weather forecast, we bundled up and went at it regardless of the driving rain. Thankfully the bridge operators responded to our horn blasts and quickly opened the bridges. We didn't even have to wait very long to enter the locks. A large vessel preceded us, so all boats were directed into the large lock. Bob Bennett and his dog Kip dropped by to see us through the locks. It was nice to see a friendly face in that weather.

Now the wind has come and gone, turned to the north and faded from the east, so we're motoring along and headed toward Alec Bay, our first anchorage. We're looking forward to setting anchor and settling in for dinner and a quiet night. Tacos!
